MISSION: FOOD SECURITY

Feed The Block

Feed The Block is a program of For The Kingdom (FTK) and represents an opportunity to address the food deserts and food insecurity which are prevalent in the Raleigh community of Memphis, Tennessee. FTK’s goal is to provide for the basic human needs of all people in need of food, love and encouragement.

What we do

Feed The Block Programs

In 2020, amid the COVID-19 pandemic and due to our community dealing with high levels of food insecurity, Feed The Block was established as a food program to assist individuals and families who were struggling to make ends meet. The program initially aimed to bridge the gap for those who were jobless and unable to provide meals for their loved ones. Additionally, we recognized that many children in our neighborhood relied on school meals for their daily nourishment. With the shutdown of schools and businesses due to the pandemic, we saw a need and chose to provide for our community. We provided over 200 bagged meals daily to children and their families in Raleigh in 2020.

In 2021, Feed The Block expanded and formed a partnership with DoorDash to offer complimentary meals to children aged between 5-18. Our culinary team produced 700-1000 hot meals every Monday to Friday, delivered straight to their doorsteps at no cost. This collaboration with DoorDash enabled Feed The Block to reach even more families, providing essential meals to children who may have gone hungry otherwise.

As of 2023, Feed The Block has transitioned and now offers a multitude of services to those in need in our aim to create a community of food abundance.

Groceries

Grocery Giveaways

Thanks to our incredible partnership with Trader Joe’s and Gleaning Ministry, we are able to receive weekly donations from Trader Joe’s. We view these donations as excess resources that we can use to benefit our community. Once a week, we notify our community of the available grocery bags that residents can come pick up free of charge at our campus on a first-come, first-served basis.
