C.A.R.E.S.

C.A.R.E.S. (Cultivating Accessible Resources In Every School) is a strategy that aims to support schools by providing resources and educational support, as well as opportunities for students, their families, and staff to bond and connect.

listening. and learning.

Having been recognized as the “Adopter of the Year” by Shelby County Schools in 2022, we at For The Kingdom strongly believe that our community schools, administration, teachers, students and their families deserve partners in the community that are willing to walk alongside them. This is why we have adopted 33 schools and offer our C.A.R.E.S. program to them. C.A.R.E.S. is designed to provide assistance to nearby schools with the aim of creating a safe and nurturing environment, where individuals can express their concerns and acquire the necessary tools for success. At the heart of C.A.R.E.S. lies the principle of actively listening to and supporting the needs of the community it serves, while also coordinating resources to meet those needs.

Key elements of C.A.R.E.S.:

  • Safe Resource Spaces: We aim to reach our goal of creating a community of food abundance and meeting students at their level to provide them with effortless access to education, wellness, mindfulness, and mentoring. We plan to achieve this by taking ownership of the learning gardens in our adopted schools, using them as a foundation for agricultural education, mindfulness, and wellness. In addition, we will utilize the allocated resource rooms provided by the schools to push toward increasing education proficiency as students are given the resources and support they need to succeed in their studies.
  • Pre-Suspension Intervention: To intervene before suspensions occur, we have implemented “cool down” areas that support “reset rooms” where students can learn de-escalation techniques to manage their behavior.
  • Life skills Resources: We provide support for the development of soft skills such as managing impulsive decisions, communicating effectively, and interacting with authority figures.
  • Free Meals: Through our Feed The Block program, after school, we offer free meals to students, teams and clubs 5-18.
